Instructions on how to measure for a custom pergola quote

We sell attached pergolas and freestanding pergolas, therefore there are two different methods on how to measure for a pergola kit at Pergola Depot. All of our kits are measured Depth x Width. Contact us with any questions at: info@pergoladepot.com or 1-877-563-0002.

Measuring for an Attached Pergola:

  • Pull your first measurement from the wall to where you would like the outside edge of your posts to land (Depth A).
  • Pull your second measurement parallel to the house where you would like the outside edge of your posts to land (Width D).
  • There is always a 1’6” overhang past the outside edge of the post for both rafters and beams, so the overall dimension would be (Depth A + 1’6” = Dimension C) X (Width D + 1’6” + 1’6” = Dimension B)

How to measure for an attached pergola kit

Example: I pulled a measurement from the house for Depth A of 15’7”, and a Width D of 16’3”.

15’7” + 1’6” = Overall Depth (Rafter Length) 17’1”

16’3” + 1’6” + 1’6” = Overall Width (Beam Length) 19’3”

Overall Pergola Dimensions (CxB)= 17’1”x19’3”

Measuring for a Freestanding Pergola:

  • Pull your first measurement from front to back where you would like the outside edge of your posts to land (Depth A).
  • Pull second measurement from side to side of where you would like the outside edge of your posts to land (Width D).
  • There is always a 1’6” overhang past the outside edge of the posts for both rafters and beams, so the overall dimension would be (Depth A + 1’6” + 1’6” = Dimension C) X (Width D + 1’6” +1’6” = Dimension B)

How to measure for a freestanding pergola kit

Example: I pulled a measurement from front to back (Depth A) of 15’7”, and from side to side (Width D) of 16’3”.

15’7” + 1’6” + 1’6” = Overall Depth (Rafter Length) 18’7”

16’3” + 1’6” + 1’6” = Overall Width (Beam Length) 19’3”

Overall Pergola Dimensions (CxB)= 18’7”x19’3”
