The Big Kahuna 14×18 pergola kit is built using quality lumber, including 6X6 posts, double 2X8 beams, 2X8 rafters, 2X6 angle braces, and 2X2 top slats. On every size of our Big Kahuna pergolas, we notch each post to a depth of 1-1/2 inches on each side in order to make a more secure connection between the beam and post. We also notch the rafters over the beams to take away the lateral motion usually found with cheaper pergolas that are un-notched. This design is a strong and lasting 14×18 pergola kit that will stand up to harsh climate so you can enjoy this pergola with family and friends for many years.
