Our patio roof kits include complete covered pergola kits with metal roofing or wood pergola kits with optional retractable canopies and shade sails for extra shade. Although most homeowners choose freestanding patio cover kits, we also build attached pergola kits that will attach to your home or garage for a space savings option.
No matter what size wood patio cover kit you need, we offer a range of sizes and coverage options to meet your needs. Here is a list of our most popular sizes in freestanding and attached patio cover kits.

Where to Mount My Patio Cover Posts
Since the posts are the “legs” and foundation of your new pergola, it’s important you select the best location, depth, and method for installing the posts. Before you even select your post height on your order, you should investigate through your HOA or county to find out if there are pergola permits required for installing an outdoor structure like a wood pergola. They’ll also be able to tell you things like where your frost line is and how to schedule for utilities to mark the spot where it’s safe to dig your post holes. If you’re mounting your posts in the ground, you’ll need to order posts tall enough to account for the depth you have to install the posts below the frost line. If you’re unsure about the post installation, we recommend contacting a local contractor or handyman/woman to help you with the pergola installation.

When Can I Add a Coat of Stain or Paint to My Pergola?
Maintaining wood pergolas and patio covers may seem like a daunting task, but with a little effort, you can keep it looking beautiful for many years. Let’s start with timing. You’ve received your brand new pergola kit, and you’re eager to add the finish you’d like so it blends perfectly with your home’s exterior. But when it comes to finishing your pergola with stain, paint, or sealant, timing is everything. The timeframe for applying your desired stain, sealant, or paint depends on the wood type you select. We offer our pergola kits in 2 high quality wood choices – #1 pressure treated southern yellow pine, and rough sawn western red cedar.
If you purchased one of our pine pergola kits, follow these guidelines: Assemble your pergola as soon as possible after receiving. Pressure treated pine lumber must dry out before applying stain, sealant, or paint in order for the lumber to be dry enough to absorb the stain or sealant. So after assembling your pine pergola, wait 2-4 months for the pressure treatment to dry before applying your sealant of choice. This timeframe depends on your location, the time of year, and the level of humidity in your location. Follow advice from your local stain & paint specialist for how and when to stain and paint outdoor structures. Then you’ll want to reapply your chosen finish every 1-2 years to keep your pine pergola looking as good as new.
If you purchased one of our cedar pergola kits, you can apply stain, paint, or sealant right away – no waiting required. With cedar lumber, you can stain or seal prior to installation if desired. Just like with pine, you’ll want to reapply your chosen finish to your cedar pergola every 1-2 years to keep it looking as good as new.

Our Big Kahuna PLUS pergola kits are our full size pergola offering that you can select optional metal roofing in a variety of popular colors. This style provide maximum shade for the ultimate patio cover. If you’re looking for extra shade coverage and some protection from rain, select one of our canopies or shade sails.
